Fiona works with adults, drawing on her expertise of using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Motivational Interviewing and Psychodynamic approaches to support and assist clients to overcome their challenges.

Using different psychological approaches enables her to tailor the counselling experience to each individual to best meet their needs.

She has worked in a community mental health service for many years, giving her extensive experience in working with people with depression, anxiety, addiction and other mental health difficulties. She has also worked in occupational rehabilitation and as such is experienced with TAC and Workcover offering pain management and coping strategies.

Fiona is approachable and professional and is able to create a relaxed atmosphere for clients so that therapy goals can be achieved. In many cases, Medicare rebates are available with a Mental Health Care plan referral from a doctor.

She is a registered Psychologist offering medicare rebatable psychology services based at The Western Health Collective in West Footscray.

Qualifications and Experience

Fiona is a registered Psychologist, has completed a Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy (Cairnmillar Institute) and a Bachelor of Social Science (Family Studies) from Australian Catholic University.

She has worked in community mental health, occupational rehabilitation, disability and justice services and in private practice.

Therapeutic Orientation

Fiona believes in evidence-based treatment and only uses treatment methods that have proven efficacy in scientific studies. She is familiar with a range of treatment models and uses the best fit for the presenting problem and the client. Her therapeutic orientation is primarily Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, Solution Focussed Therapy and Psychodynamic principles. Fiona works with adults and adolescents.
